  11. distinctly different tunes. On her latest album, Frenesi,
  12. crooner LINDA RONSTADT opts for the classics of Caribbean jazz.
  13. Why? "There aren't many interesting songs produced in our
  14. culture," she explains. "It's a sign of the economy; people are
  15. writing throwaway stuff." Due out soon from androgynous politico
  16. SINEAD O'CONNOR: Am I Not Your Girl?, a sultry series of torch
  17. songs favored by the likes of Billie Holiday and Ella
  18. Fitzgerald. And finally, get ready for raspy rocker CHER to go
  19. country. She's gearing up for an album expected sometime next
  20. year.
